Christina Word is a free program geared toward teaching young children the basics of word processing. Its interface is colorful and runs full-screen. As characters are typed, the voice of a seven-year-old girl (the author's daughter Christina) announces them. Her voice also provides audio help when the mouse cursor is placed over a button. Favorite words can be stored in a list for visual reference. Although the program can't print and only one document can be saved, the little ones will enjoy pressing keys and hearing their names spoken.

With all menu choices spoken as well as read, the students choose their own exercises and learn the relationships between phonetic sounds and over 200 3D pictures. As a reward after completing a study section, a parent/teacher-controlled game room with animated puzzles and memory games is offered. The parent sets the number of activities that must be completed before access to the games. The student can then select between puzzles and a Concentration-style memory game.
